Warrick Humane Society is a no-kill, nonprofit rescue that does not euthanize for space.
We are not an open intake facility and all intakes are scheduled. We are unable to schedule same-day owner surrender intakes.
The number of adoptions and open kennels dictates our intake scheduling. Due to the large number of surrender requests that we receive each week, we are unable to help with every request we receive. A staff member will reach out to you if we are able to help after you complete the owner surrender application. If we are able to help, please expect to wait at least 2-3 weeks before we can schedule the intake of your pet.
We do not accept aggressive pets or pets with a bite report filed against them. If you adopted your pet from another rescue organization, please contact that organization for surrender information. We are unable to accept stray animals. If you have a stray animal, please contact animal control in the county in which you found the animal (Warrick Animal Control 812-897-6107, Evansville Animal Care and Control 812-435-6015). The following surrender fees will apply if we are able to accept your pet:
- $75 Not spayed/neutered
- $35 Not current on vaccines
- $15 Not current on heartworm test and prevention
Our goal is to keep pets in their forever homes and out of the shelter. Busy schedule and lack of time? Consider doggie daycare or a pet sitter. Behavior problems? Consider talking to a trainer. Before making the decision to surrender your pet, we urge you look at the below list of some area dog trainers, pet sitters and pet daycares that may help you and your pet stay together.
